In a recent interview with Essence magazine she talks about her divorce, name and future…

Here is a snippet
ESSENCE.COM: What evidence did you provide that helped you in your case?
LISARAYE:
I can’t be specific right now. I will say that there are things that happen within a marriage which can disrespect the union and actions can be taken against those things. As an actress, I have put myself out there as an independent Black woman, a single mom, a go-getter, a hustler who isn’t afraid to survive. If you get with a man who goes against who you are or what you believe in, people who know you begin to say, “Hey, that’s not the LisaRaye I know.” As his wife, my name has been associated with things that I have nothing to do with, and I have to fight to clear my name.

ESSENCE.COM: When you say you have to “fight for your name” are you referring to the British investigation into the government of Turks and Caicos and its leader, your estranged husband?
LISARAYE:
Yes. I have been summoned to the hearing for questioning from the commission regarding the corruption inquiry into my husband’s government.

ESSENCE.COM: Do you believe your husband is innocent or guilty of those allegations?
LISARAYE:
That’s not for me to decide.

ESSENCE.COM: Do you think that you and your husband could have avoided such a public war?
LISARAYE:
Honestly, I hoped our divorce could be amicable. I’m saying to him, “Let’s get it over with so we can move on with our lives. It’s not fair to keep me involved in all this mess that I know nothing about… I’m human and enough is enough.” I’m going through some things, but I’ve been quiet and haven’t spoken to my country. I was trying to bow out gracefully, but after a while the Southside [of Chicago] had to come forward and finally say, “Hold on! Wait a minute!”

ESSENCE.COM: Bloggers have often said that you’re too “ghetto” to be a First Lady. How does that make you feel?
LISARAYE:
I am not and never grew up in the ghetto. People need to get it right. I grew up on the Southside of Chicago. What people don’t realize is that my father was a multimillionaire who owned 12 hotels, motels, a steel mill, a radio station, a club, nursing home, and a law office. So I think it’s safe to say I’m a little above middle class and I’m a daddy’s girl. I make no apologies for loving the finer things in life or the men I choose to date. I don’t feel bad about the person I am. Now, I do have an edge, rawness and realness, and I can tell you I’m going to keep that. I’m one of those women who’s not to be messed with. I’m very opinionated and boisterous at times. I’m also kind and humble. I know when to fold and when to hold and that’s important. If my edge scares you, then you have a choice to remove yourself. Other than that, I’m very approachable, and when people meet me they always say, “You are so down to earth and nothing like I thought you were.”

  1. THE ONLY THING THAT LISA DID WRONG, AND OTHER AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN, WHO GET INVOLVED WITH AMERICAN HATERS, IS NOT BELIEVING THAT THEY ALL ARE THE SAME – NO GOOD CON ARTIST AMERICAN HATERS WHO ARE OUT TO DESTROY THEM. 99.9% OF THEM ARE LIKE THAT. 99.9%. I SAID 99.9%. THE MEN AND WOMEN ARE TAUGHT TO BE CON ARTIST PROSTITUTES FROM BIRTH TO GRAVE.

    HE PLANNED THE CON.
    HE EXECUTED THE CON.
HE HAD A MISSION TO CON BLACK HOLLYWOOD, AND HE NEEDED AN ENTRY INTO THEIR HOMES. THAT DOOR OPENER WAS LISA.

THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE AMERICAN HATERS IS TO STAY AWAY FROM THEM, GET THEM DEPORTED, AND GET THEM FIRED.

JUST LOOK AT THEM ALL OVER THE BLOG BLAMING THE VICTIM. EVERYONE OF THEM KNOWS THAT CONNING AND PROSTITUTING TO GET AMERICAN MONEY IS WHAT THEY LIVE FOR.

    Jamaican women bloggers said:

To tell the honest truth, Christine… I personally would never be with a Jamaican man…. Most of them who come here from Jamaica are looking for someone to use and take advantage if not infect them with HIV/AIDS. My girlfriend was with someone who is Jamaican, and he messed her over BAD. He messed up her credit by getting her involved in a scam (She didn’t know it was a scam til it was too late). He always acted like he was mad at the world. I REPEAT, I am not saying ALL Jamaican men are like this, but A LOT of them are.

I am not even going to lie—I won’t mess with a west indian man to save my life and I am west indian! I have had to deal with (on top of everyday relationship problems) being drug in the middle of scams and also physical abuse. The last straw was when my last boyfriend was behind my back getting stolen items sent to my house. The police came to my door and he was sitting right on the couch and denied everything even though they said they would put ME in jail!

I also think I had one boyfriend who tried to use witchcraft on me because of some strange stuff I found out about.

I ONLY deal with African American men now and things have been going MUCH better

    >>It’s true… I know a lot of jamaican men (Not all, but most of them) are AIDS infested… I remember before I got saved for real, I was messing with this Jamaican guy who moved here to NY from Jamaica just about a year or two before, and once, when we were intimate… he rolled over and told me, “I have AIDS”….. Then I just looked at him with TOTAL shock on my face…. and he waited about close to what seemed like forever and told me he was just joking…. But I don’t think he was…. I have been tested several times before AND after then, and the tests come up negative. >>

I had one boyfriend who I found out was doing God Knows what back in Jamaica. I told him I wanted to use condoms and he had the nerve to slap the crap out of me. He slapped me so hard that blood came out of my nose. The only way he left my house is because I grabbed the phone and pressed 911. He jumped up and left.

I’ve also have had my feel of being involved in scams by the men I was dealing with. I myself never do anything to break the law, but the men I was involved with was deep in the crap and when the police came into the picture I was left out to dry and I was innocent.

I have been dealing with African American Christian men and I have had MUCH better luck in my life.

I think it has a lot to do with the poverty and lifestyle. Almost everyone wants what the people in America has in terms of wealth. They might not want to say it but they do. To be honest it’s not just the men who are not worth much either. I have female family and old friends that I do not even talk to because they are always on a scam or worse. Some of the women can be just as underhanded because of the men. But back to the men, I think what women in the US don’t understand is the west indian man’s mindset. Many (not all) are terrible liars and cheaters. The violence is another thing too. I always tell the few American friends I have made here to NOT get involved with a man fresh from the Islands. You are playing with fire.

One of my co-workers was dating a man from my homeland–Jamaica—and she told me she thought he was cheating. I told her to just pay attention and if she catches him in lies, then he probably is cheating. so the next week after she told me this, she comes to work with stitches in her forehead. She privately told me that she followed him and caught him going to another woman’s house and when she approached him as he walked to the doorway, he punched he to the ground. Sorry to say but he was illegal so calling the police would do no good.

I hate to say it, but I distance myself from a lot of people from where I came from. They seem to always have stealing and wickedness in their minds.

  2. We have 2 american women in very visible positions, and quite possibly millions of other american women who have been victimized by black foreign scam artist. When will black americans stand up and say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and get these people out of our country.

Black americans are stabbing and killing them in my part of the country after they realize they have been conned, but then they end up in prison.
