Usher’s father, Usher Raymond III, passed away at an Atlanta hospital on Friday.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press first reported the news in its obituaries section.
The funeral will take place later this week at the Taylor funeral home chapel in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Usher and Tameka Foster welcomed a baby boy Monday night. Usher was at an Atlanta hospital and the new family is expected to go back to their home tomorrow.

Usher Raymond V was born at 9:59 pm last night at an Atlanta area hospital. He weighed 7 lbs, 9 oz and is 21.5 inches long. The happy couple are “going back and forth” on a middle name for the baby. “I’m officially in the club,” said an emotional Usher who told Ryan to say, “hey daddy,” when he’s out in the clubs.
Usher told Ryan he helped with the delivery. “I did it all, I did what I had to do,” he said.
Usher and his new bride, Tameka Foster, will grace the November 2007 issue of Essence magazine and behind the scenes footage from their photo shoot has hit the net- and it does not show Tameka in a very good light.

According to ajc.com, as morning announcer Rashan Ali was spilling details about Usher and Tameka’s second ceremony on air Tuesday, a distinct giggle could be heard in the background. It was Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of TLC, a one-time, longtime girlfriend of the Atlanta R&B superstar. Ali broke from her entertainment report to ask Thomas what she thought about the nuptials —- or more specifically, about Usher’s mother reportedly not attending. “I don’t think anything,” she replied, still laughing. “I don’t think anything.” Thomas did add that she stays in touch with Jonetta Patton, or as she calls her “Mama J.” She also said that she and Usher “had chemistry.” “I wish [Usher] well in everything he does.”
Besides working on her debut solo album, Chilli also revealed that she’s starting her own handbag line aptly titled Bags By Chilli
She really put some roots on him. I am convinced!!!!!
