On January 20, 14 major department stores will be giving away free cosmetic products as part of a cosmetics settlement involving alleged price-fixing. The suit has been settled with the retailers admitting to no wrongdoing. Affected consumers can enjoy a free product as part of the settlement. A full list of retailers who will be providing one free cosmetic product is listed in detail on www.cosmeticssettlement.com, with the list containing such big department store names as Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Dillards, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales.
Who qualifies for a free cosmetic product and what free products are being given away on January 20?
The free cosmetic product that will be given away to class members on January 20 will vary from store to store. A “class member” encompasses anyone stating that they purchased department store cosmetics from at least one of the department stores on the affected list between May 29, 1994 and July 16, 2003. The free cosmetics giveaway associated with this cosmetics settlement will be on a while supplies last basis and will only encompass certain cosmetics (valued at $25 or less) listed on thecosmeticssettlement.com site.

Uhm….yes I’ve bought plenty of make-up from the MAC counter at Nordstrom’s before. Month after month I’d be there buying this or that, so yeah I’ll be there on the 20th.
