Paramount Pictures have announced that they are reviving Eddie Murphy’s massively successful movie franchise, ‘Beverly Hills Cop’, for a fourth installment, with Murphy on board to reprise the lead role of Axel Foley.
A spokesman for the company said on Thursday (May 29) that the new movie is expected to hit cinema’s in 2010, with Brett Ratner – most noted for his work on the ‘Rush Hour’ movies – in negotiations to direct.
Murphy’s international fame exploded in the 1980s after he first played the troubled Detroit detective, who heads to Beverly Hills to capture a friend’s killer.
The first one was great, the second one was a cartoon focusing mainly on Murphy’s ‘schtick’ for two hours. Didn’t see the third. Why was thew first one great? Cause it wasn’t supposed to star Murphy! It was originally written for Stallone, and then writers retooled it for Eddie (plus his famous ad-libbing certainly added to the success). Lets hope this time the writers remember the character is a serious detective with an off beat persona, and not all off beat persona!

Merci beaucoup pour cet extrait de littrature. J’en exigerais bien davantage pilot avec autant de charme.
